Biography:
Nancy has lived most of her life in the Town of Maine. Before she went to work at the town hall she and her husband opereted a dairy farm for many years, and raised four children. She worked as Deputy Clerk II and then I and Highway Secretary for five years before she was elected in 2002 as Town Clerk. She lives on a farm on Tiona Road with her husband Zenon where they raise Scottish Highland cattle. Her grandchildren are the light of her life. Her interests are plants and flowers. She also enjoys ducks, geese and feeding wild birds.
Description:
The job of the Town Clerk is to care for all records.She must prepare all general documents for vouchers. She must know how to operate the computer with special programs. She is the one that issues marriage, hunting,fishing,trapping,turkey permits and dog licenses. She is also the registrar and does the birth and death certificates. She has to be a peace maker for the customers when they come into the Town Hall upset. She is responsible for the Town Board minutes. She works with the other departments making sure everything is going well. There are many reports that need to be done at the end of the month. She does notaries when customers need them. She helps the assessor by collecting the STAR forms and checking them over when they come in. The Town Clerk helps the customers read the tax books and maps when they need infomation. The public has many questions.She is usually the first one to work in the morning, and the last one to leave at night.
